We Highlight the Science that You should Care about with…

  • In the relaxed setting of his own backyard, our interviewer Nick will nag noble nerds about their research until he gets something out of them that’s relatable, in a podcast kind of format.

The resulting videos can be a useful jumping off point for inspiring deeper discussions with your students.

  • We feel it’s best to learn about what someone’s talking about in situ.

Follow along and see for yourself that scientific research actually is much more simple & boring than you ever imagined.

However, its power to change your perspective on the world around you is the real cool part. Kinda like taking drugs.

  • We connect to the Earth through the food we eat, the people we meet and the places we live, and our relationships with all three of those things have been disrupted by modern life.

Scientists are weird, but they have ways to connect with the world around them that us normies don’t have an appreciation for.

Think how the chef from the movie ‘The Menu’ cooks a meal and explains where it came from with such passion.

Now imagine a whole gaggle of science nerds producing cooking tutorials with similar passion for appreciating the beauty in the patterns of nature.

Imagine a geologist teaching back-country hiking skills with an exquisite appreciation of why mountains form the way they do.

Or a tree scientist helping you pick out the best tree to build a treehouse.

A marine biologist teach you how to clean (gut) a fish.

Practical knowledge that enhances our lives is the fruit of the science tree, but I think we are selling scientists short by just putting them in a lab and asking them to discover the cure for cancer.

With this practical tutorial video series, I will make an argument for why they are far more valuable to us as a lens with which to appreciate the world around us.

Chat with Nick

Hi, I’m Nick. The guy that made this website and in 2013 won $1000 in a business idea competition to make this video series. I need scientists to interview for these videos. I need teachers & homeschoolers to use these videos in their classrooms. Please reach out if you’re either of those and interested in working with me. Oh yea, and I have been an oceanographic research technician for 11 years. I went to school at Kutztown University and currently work on Columbia University’s research ship with some of the coolest scientists in the world. But I’m a new father and would like to spend more time with my daughter, and that means ‘side hustling’. So after a very long time, I’d like to follow through on this business idea that some panel of judges thought to be so good that it won first place.
